To support safe and continuous operations at the El Dorado Chemical Company, we performed a detailed protective device coordination study focused on the facility’s 13.8kV and 4.16kV overhead distribution systems. The study included updated electrical relay settings, TCC curve analysis, and coordination evaluations between the utility company's relay and the site's Schweitzer protective relays. This work helped refine protection strategies across key substations and process units.

Our findings identified opportunities to improve time-delay settings for Schweitzer relays to achieve proper coordination with transformer fuses and reduce the risk of unnecessary outages. We also provided recommendations for implementing arc flash protection settings that operators can enable during maintenance activities. These enhancements directly support system reliability, personnel safety, and operational control—ensuring the facility's electrical infrastructure is aligned with industry best practices and current operating conditions.
